The Domaine is situated at the foot
of the Maures at Grimaud in the Var region dominated by the Golf of
Saint-Tropez. It has a southern exposure and is situated on siliceous and
gneissic soil.

In the 1880s, when Alexandre
Castellan founder of the Domaine du Val de Gilly, settled on the estate, vine
cultivation was only secondary in comparison with the forest works or olive
cultivation. The next generation made up their minds to reverse the situation
especially after the freezing of the olive trees in 1956, and they concentrated
on vine cultivation.
Managed today by Nadine et Daniel
Castellan, "the fifth generation", this magnificent property extends for
27 hectares of A.O.C. Côtes de Provence classified hillsides. |
